Umbil was born out of everyday frontline experience — the reality that clinicians constantly learn during clinics, ward rounds, and on-call shifts, yet much of that learning is lost or retrospectively reconstructed for appraisal and revalidation. The platform allows clinicians to ask real clinical questions, receive guidance grounded in trusted UK sources such as NICE and CKS, and seamlessly capture this learning as structured CPD and reflective evidence aligned with GMC requirements.

Now in active use by doctors and trainees, Umbil aims to make learning a natural by-product of clinical work rather than an added administrative task. Paul continues to work clinically alongside building Umbil, with a focus on improving sustainability, wellbeing, and educational value in modern medical practice.
