1451 Society Glasgow Lunch

We were delighted to welcome over 120 guests to our 1451 Society annual lunch on campus in April. For the first time, each table was hosted by an academic whose area had benefited from legacy gifts. There was incredibly positive feedback on this from guests and hosts, all of whom offered to come back next year! We heard speeches from the Heads of the Schools of Medicine and Modern Languages, as well as the Head of Small Animal Clinical Sciences who all shared their unique views on what donor support helps achieve.

The then Principal, Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, gave an overview which reflected on our growing 1451 community and these special moments of reunion which celebrate a shared purpose. He spoke of the privilege of leading the University and the seeing the impact of philanthropy every day and meet students of exceptional ability who would not be here without donor support. Sharing that he will stay in touch in his role as Honorary Professor in the Adam Smith Business School, we may still see him at future University events!

Our next 1451 Event

Join us at Gilmorehill

Next spring our new Principal, Professor Andy Schofield, will host our 1451 Society legacy lunch on campus. We are excited to share the news that our next event will be held on April 17, 2026. Invitations will be sent to all by post or email in the spring, and we also hope to hold an event in London in autumn 2026.

These events are our opportunity to pass on our thanks to you in person for your support and interest in leaving a gift in your Will to the University and a chance to share news and insider updates.

We are delighted to also extend the invitation to any of our alumni and friends who have enquired about gifts in Wills in the past. Please register your interest by emailing legacies@glasgow.ac.uk to receive your invitation.
