You can apply as

  • an Erasmus Mundus scholarship student - Deadline: 24th January 2025, 23:59 (UK TIME)
  • Self-funded student - Deadline Home/RUK students: 22nd August 2025. 23:59 (UK TIME)
  • Self-funded student - Deadline International students: 25th July 2025, 23:59 (UK TIME)

All applications for the EDUMaH programme (self-funding and Erasmus Mundus scholarships) must be submitted online to the University of Glasgow. We cannot accept applications any other way.

You have 42 days to submit your application once you begin the process. You may save and return to your application as many times as you wish to update information, complete sections or upload supporting documents such as your final transcript or your language test.

Required Documents

We strongly advise you to submit your complete application in advance of the deadline date and check that you have submitted all necessary documents by the deadline date. Please note that the Admissions team receive a high number of enquiries in the weeks leading up to the deadline date. Therefore, if you have any queries about the application process, or your application, we strongly encourage you to contact the Admissions team (University of Glasgow - Study - Enquire) as early as you can. If your application is incomplete at the deadline it will not be accepted.


As part of your online application, you will need to submit the following documents: 

  • A copy (or copies) of your official degree certificate(s) (if you have already completed your degree) - in original language
  • A copy (or copies) of your official academic transcript(s), showing full details of subjects studied and grades/marks obtained - in original language
  • Official English translations of the certificate(s) and transcript(s)
  • Two reference* letters on headed paper
  • Current CV
  • English Language Test Certificate (if your first language is not English) - Please note, evidence of your English Language ability (if your first language is not English) must be uploaded by the Scholarship application deadline. 
  • A copy of the photo page of your passport 
  • Two Reference Letters - must be uploaded at time of application. At least one must be an academic reference and, if appropriate, the other from the student’s most recent employer.

    Please note references must:
  • be dated within the last 2 years of the date of submission of your application.
  • be on headed paper, or have an official stamp
  • be signed (either digitally or by hand - Please note that a typed name is not sufficient)
  • If your referee prefers their reference to remain confidential, they can email the reference to erasmusreferences@glasgow.ac.uk, provided the email is from your referee’s professional email account and contains their full employee name and address.

    IMPORTANT

  • We will not accept references sent from personal email addresses or via a third-party.
  • The University of Glasgow is unable to contact referees on applicants' behalf.
  • NOTE: The scholarship application form/personal statement form are Word documents. Once you have completed the form, please upload it to your application as a PDF. 
  • In order to be considered for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, you MUST submit ALL of the above documents, including English Language certificate, by the submission deadline. The only exception to this is final degree certificates and transcripts where an applicant is still currently studying.
  • You have 42 days to submit your application once you begin the process.

  • If you are completing the final year of your first degree, your application will be considered but any offer made will be Conditional until we receive your final degree.

 

 

 

Guidance using the Online Application Form

These notes are intended to help you complete the online application form accurately; they are also available within the help section of the online application form. 

If you experience any difficulties accessing the online application then you should visit the Application Troubleshooting/FAQs page.

  • Name and Date of birth: must appear exactly as they do on your passport. Please take time to check the spelling and lay-out.
  • Contact Details: Correspondence address. All contact relevant to your application will be sent to this address including the offer letter(s). If your address changes, please contact us as soon as possible.
  • Choice of course: Please select carefully the course you want to study. As your application will be sent to the admissions committee for each course you select it is important to consider at this stage why you are interested in the course and that it is reflected in your application.
  • Proposed date of entry: Please state your preferred start date including the month and the year. Taught masters degrees tend to begin in September. Research degrees may start in any month.
  • Education and Qualifications: Please complete this section as fully as possible indicating any relevant Higher Education qualifications starting with the most recent. Complete the name of the Institution (s) as it appears on the degree certificate or transcript.
  • English Language Proficiency: Please state the date of any English language test taken (or to be taken) and the award date (or expected award date if known).
  • Employment and Experience: Please complete this section as fully as possible with all employments relevant to your course. Additional details may be attached in your personal statement/proposal where appropriate.
  • Reference: Please provide two references. This should typically be academic references but in cases where this is not possible then a reference from a current employer may be accepted instead. Please upload your references on letter headed paper to your application. We will not consider applications without these. Do not enter your referees’ names and contact details on the online application.

Scholarships

Applications for EMJM scholarship funding opend on 1st October 2024 and closed on 24th January 2025, 23:59 (UK TIME).

Please note that if you wish to be considered for a scholarship, you will be required to submit proof of English language proficiency by 23:59 UK time on 24th January 2025. The only exception to this is final degree certificates and transcripts where an applicant is still currently studying. Final degree certificates and transcripts will be required by 23:59 UK time on 31st August 2025.

Entry Requirements

2.1 Hons (or non-UK equivalent) in English or other Modern Language, Literature Studies, History, Film and Media Studies (within arts and humanities), Childhood Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, Library and Information Studies, Arts or Humanities Education.

English Language Requirements

For applicants from non-English speaking countries, as defined by the UK Government, the University sets a minimum English Language proficiency level.

Deadlines

CLMCE Self Funding and Erasmus Mundus scholarship applications open on 1st October 2024.

Applications close (for scholarship applications): 24th January 2025, 23:59 (UK TIME)
Applications close (International self-funding applications): 25th July 2025, 23:59 (UK TIME)
Applications close (for UK self-funding applications): 22nd August 2025, 23:59 (UK TIME)

Early application is advised. Applications will only be considered for scholarship funding if they are submitted by the deadline date of 24th January 2025 at 23:59 (UK TIME), complete with all required documents, including proof of English language proficiency.

Although self-funding applications to the programme will be considered on a continuous basis, please note that scholarship applications will not be reviewed until after the scholarship application deadline on 24th January 2025, 23:59 (UK TIME).

Scholarship applicants will be notified if they have been successful in obtaining a scholarship in April 2025. 

Appeal Procedure

Appeal procedure - Programme Application

Candidates who do not secure a place on the programme and who wish to appeal the decision should, in the first instance, contact the University of Glasgow Admissions team via their online enquiry portal.

Appeal procedure - Scholarship Application

All candidates will receive an email with the scholarship committee’s decision in April. If you do not get a scholarship and want to appeal, you must do within 2 weeks (14 days) from the date the committee told you about the decision.

You may only appeal if the procedure of the CLMCE scholarship selection committee was defective or unfair.

You must email your appeal to clmc@glasgow.ac.uk. The subject heading must be 'CLMCE scholarship appeal'. Your email must clearly explain why you are appealing the decision.
