Biography
Farsan is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Management & Entrepreneurship and part of the cluster of International Business and Enterprise at Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, UK. He holds a PhD from the University of Cape Town, Graduate School of Business, South Africa. In addition to his PhD, he received an MBA from Henley Business School, UK, and an MSc in Management & Economics from the University of Regensburg, Germany. His research has been published in leading international journals such as Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, Journal of International Management, and in edited volumes, including The Oxford Handbook of Organisational Social Evaluations.
His work centers on understanding the complex dynamics of entrepreneurship. With a focus on the role of entrepreneurial action and imagination, he explores how founders identify, create, and act on new opportunities. His research also delves into the socio-economic dimensions of entrepreneurship, such as how entrepreneurial job crafting allows individuals to reshape their roles for greater personal and professional fulfillment, as well as the role of social and community entrepreneurship in addressing societal challenges.
In addition to his academic work, Farsan has practical experience as a start-up advisor and new venture creation facilitator, helping aspiring entrepreneurs navigate the challenges of building sustainable ventures. His interdisciplinary approach blends theory with real-world application, offering a comprehensive view of the entrepreneurial process from ideation to execution. Prior to his academic work, Farsan obtained extensive professional work experience with multinational corporations in developed and emerging markets with a focus on innovation, strategic management, and business development.
