Biography
Dr Yee Kwan Tang is a Senior Lecturer in the Adam Smith Business School (ASBS), University of Glasgow (UK), and currently the Deputy Lead of the International Business and Entrepreneurship (IBE) Cluster. As project coordinator of a flagship real-life consultancy module – the International Management Solutions - in the MSc International Business programme, she has guided hundreds of students in partnering with entrepreneurs and small firms in crafting business and innovation strategies for their international markets. She also brings over a decade of postgraduate industry experience spanning project management, financial management, and operational systems design within multinational enterprises.
At the international level, Tang worked with the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, where she contributed to the entrepreneurship and innovation programmes and business linkage initiatives that equips small- and medium-sized enterprises in developing countries to partner with large firms. Her work at the intersection of industry practice and international development has expanded through collaborations with global partners on research and innovation projects, supported by British Academy, Carnegie Trust, UKRI-InnovateUK, ESRC, and UKRI-GCRF, across Africa and South Asia. Most recently, she served as international consultant for UN Economic Commission for Africa’s (ECA) initiatives on Advancing Entrepreneurial Universities in Africa and on Technology Transfer for Sustainable Development, while also contributing to projects under IDRC’s Cultivate Africa’s Future programme and the Science Granting Council Initiative.
Kwan joined the University of Glasgow in 2011. She holds a PhD degree in Management (University of Glasgow), a MEd degree in Higher Education Teaching and Learning (University of Glasgow), an MBA degree with distinction (University of Manchester), a BA (Hons) degree (Chinese University of Hong Kong), and a BBA degree (University of South Australia).

Supervision
As of 2025, Kwan has successfully supervised more than 10 doctoral researchers to completion since 2017.
Kwan is interested in supervising doctoral research on internationalisation and international business strategy of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises; social and business networks in business development; entrepreneurship and enterprise development in developing country contexts; and business environment and firm development in China.
