In early October, our growing team converged at The Studio in Glasgow for a productive and inspiring strategic away day, filled with reflection, collaboration, and forward planning.

After a warm welcome from Emma McIntosh, the day began with team introductions through the 'Who’s Who: Getting to Know You' sessions led by Vittal Katikireddi, helping both new and familiar faces connect and share their personal and professional interests. Emma then guided the group through HEHTA’s history and future vision, setting the tone for the day’s discussions on growth and direction.

Mid-morning saw an update from David McAllister on HEHTA’s revised research themes, followed by presentations by Laura Wood and Miriam Yentumi from the Professional Services Staff (PSS) team.

In the afternoon, Jim Lewsey presented the new Skills Matrix, supporting alignment between team expertise and strategic goals, while Claudia Geue introduced the teaching portfolio, showcasing the breadth of HEHTA’s teaching efforts.

The day closed with a lively and thoughtful session led by Andy Baxter and Emma Steele on building a positive HEHTA culture —emphasizing teamwork, inclusivity, and shared purpose.

Overall, this year's away day provided an invaluable opportunity to reflect, reconnect, and re-energize as HEHTA continues to evolve and strengthen its impact.
