Summary Report: Legal Challenges to Just Transitions Workshop (21 April 2023)

On 21 April 2023, the School of Law hosted a one-day event exploring the legal dimensions of Just Transitions. The workshop examined how legal principles are used in both public and private frameworks, their impact on policy areas such as labour, health, housing, and corporate governance, and how they address the distributional effects of existing laws.

Speaker Series: Just Transitions Research Cluster (March 2023)

The Just Transition Conversations speaker series launched successfully in March 2023, featuring talks from international scholars. Justine Blendel (University of Copenhagen) spoke on 3 March, followed by Karen Bell (University of Glasgow) on 7 March, and Michelle Zang (University of Wellington) on 23 March.

Roundtable: Unjust Transitions (27 November 2023)

On 27 November 2023, the Just Transition Research Cluster hosted a roundtable on the theme of unjust transitions. Speakers included Ewan Gibbs and Jim Phillips (University of Glasgow), who shared research on Scotland’s history of deindustrialisation, and Matthew Crichton (Just Transition Partnership), who addressed challenges in local economic development. Professor Ruth Dukes (University of Glasgow) concluded with reflections on the role of labour law in enabling fair transitions.

Just Transition Cluster Awarded Funding for Mapping Just Transition: 'From Concept to Practice' Project (2023)
