Teaching & Learning Centre
Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
The Clinical Skills area within the Teaching and Learning Centre at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) is a purpose-built teaching facility designed to support medical, nursing, and allied health training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It features a 12-bed ward environment that can be reconfigured into various configurations of smaller rooms through the use of movable partitions.
The space is equipped with advanced technology to support the recording and simulation of clinical practice scenarios. It currently houses three high-fidelity simulation manikins, controlled from an adjacent control room. Additionally, there are three "interview" rooms currently being redesigned as small versatile, multi-functional spaces suitable for simulation, small group clinical skills practice via task trainer, or meetings of up to five people.
Four bays are fitted with ceiling-mounted manual handling hoists, another four offer live oxygen and suction points to simulate real ward conditions, and all twelve bays are equipped with a fully functional nurse call and emergency pull system to replicate an authentic clinical environment.
