Biography

After completing my PhD in psychology (cognitive neuroscience), I moved into the field of health behaviour change.

I now draw on both psychological and sociological theory to increase understanding of how to engage hard-to-reach groups in different settings and cultural backgrounds in sustained health behaviour change.

I am interested in the potential of community organisations, such as professional sports clubs (e.g. football and rugby clubs), bingo clubs, and prisons, to deliver health behaviour change interventions that are attractive and acceptable to at-risk groups.

I am also interested in the integration of social scientific theory with developments in digital technologies (e.g., mobile phone apps) to promote sustained positive health behaviours.

I am interested in supervising PhD projects to develop and evaluate health behaviour change (e.g. weight loss, physical activity, sedentary behaviour, diet) programmes including those delivered through mobile apps.
