University of California (UC), Berkeley
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the University of California (UC), Berkeley, as a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment (IRLE).
I was delighted to have the chance to present, at the IRLE Visiting Scholars Seminar Series, my paper on domestic violence and prices, joint work with the amazing Dr Jinglin Wen from the University of York - a recent Adam Smith Business School PhD in Economics graduate.
Many thanks to my host and Institute for Research on Labor and Employment (IRLE) Director, Professor Steven Raphael, for inviting me to UC Berkeley. During this visit I also had the chance to meet experts and attend events at the lively IRLE research community and at the Economics Department.
IRLE is an interdisciplinary institute at UC Berkeley, that connects world-class research with policy to improve workers’ lives, communities and society. It also has a very active visiting scholars’ programme in a friendly and collegial community.
I'm sharing some pictures which I took from the IRLE institute, the iconic Sather Tower at UC Berkeley campus and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, just across the bay.
Acknowledgements and future plans
I wish to thank the Adam Smith Business School Research Mobility Grant and the University of Glasgow for their support and for the opportunity to conduct this research visit at UC Berkeley. With Steve, my host at UC Berkeley, we discussed about continuing our synergies, as he kindly invited me to go back to Berkeley for a longer visit, while I also hope to have him around visiting us at the University of Glasgow soon.
