Research Seminar: Bridging the ‘Definitional Divide’ - State-Diaspora Relations in Central and Eastern Europe, 26-27 June 2024, University of Warsaw, Poland
This workshop brought together scholars researching diaspora–state relations and kin-state–kin minority dynamics to address key conceptual challenges in the field. Dr Udrea presented a paper examining three cases of diasporisation in kin-state–kin minority relations: Poland, Romania, and Hungary. While demonstrating that diasporisation remains partial in each case, the paper explores its conceptual significance at the intersection of recognition theory and liberal approaches in International Relations.
The seminar was part of the project Poland in the World – The Policy of the Polish State towards its Diasporas, funded by the German - Polish Science Foundation.
